With Valentines Day right around the corner, I wanted to share with you one of our absolute favorite valentines traditions around here - HOMEMADE GUMMIES!!!

I don’t think I ever realized before I started making them, how EASY (and fun too) homemade gummies are to make. The only real kitchen gadget you need to make these is this sweet little silicone heart gummy mold that I found on amazon (it comes with a nifty little medicine dropper too!)

The other great thing about making your own gummies at home (besides the fact that you’ll be avoiding all the scary food dyes and additives) is that you can really customize the flavor to anything you like. We decided this time to go with strawberry lemondade and cherry, but we’ve made lemon and orange before and they turned out great as well.

You just need to pick a flavor of juice that you want, really. You can use orange juice and make them orange flavor or lemon juice and make them lemon flavor. Truthfully, any flavor would work.

You make gummies by heating up your favorite juice (or fruit concentrate) and adding in this grass fed beef gelatin together and then putting the mixture into the silicone molds in the refrigerator over night and that’s it! So simple!

If you want to read more about the benefits of gelatin/collagen/bone broth - you can check out this article I wrote all about the benefits here.

HERE’S SOME MORE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW WE MADE OURS.

Oh, did I mention they literally take 10 minutes to make?!

Makes: approximately 220 gummies
Time: 10-20 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/3 cup of organic dark cherry juice

  • 1/3 cup organic stawberry lemonade

  • 4 tsp grass fed beef gelatin

  • 2 tsp agave

  • coconut oil spray

  • optional: raw organic sugar to sprinkle on top

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place your silicone heart molds on a baking sheet so you avoid any spillage later on.

  2. Spray the molds with a little coconut oil to keep them from sticking to the molds.

  3. In a stainless steel pot over medium heat, add in 1/3 cup of your juice of choice.

  4. Once the juice is heated up to medium heat, briskly whisk in 1 tsp at a time of the gelatin and add 1 tsp agave for extra sweetness too. (This is optional - they will be sweet enough without it but it depends on your desired sweetness level.)

  5. Make sure all the ingredients are completely combined and the liquid is beginning to thicken up a bit.

  6. When you’re ready, begin using the dropper syringe to squeeze the juice into each individual heart mold.

  7. Place in the refrigerator overnight. Repeat a second time with the extra juice to make more gummies.

  8. When they’re finished, use your finger to pop out each gummy and sprinkle them with a tiny pinch of raw sugar if you’d like for a little extra texture and flavor!

Enjoy!!
