Super Easy & Delicious Cauliflower Pizza Crust (GF, DF, Kid-Friendly)

Pizza night just got way more fun around here. You GUYS!!! I have been dyyyyinggg to share with you this cauliflower pizza crust I have been making. Not only because it is absolutely delicious but also because its SO DARN EASY to make. My kids literally have no idea that they’re eating cauliflower - oh wait, I think they totally do because they made it with me LOL. BUTTT they didn’t care or really notice is what I meant to say.

I have been making it every friday night for the past several weeks and the kids and even the husband (who can sometimes be a harsh critic with my gluten free pizza crust creations) love it!

I make it out of FROZEN RICED CAULIFLOWER packets from the freezer section and it is truly comes together in just minutes! I mean WHO HAS TIME TO RICE THEIR OWN CAULIFLOWER ANYWAY?! I certainly don’t right now with a newborn in the house.

I’ve been spending too much money buying pre-made cauliflower crusts at the store (let’s be honest - these are definitely great when you’re in a real pinch) but half the time I was not very pleased with the ingredients in them anyway. So I decided to give it a go and make my own and I was so much happier with how it came out, I’m definitely not going back to buying pre-made again.

I won’t lie - it really has a cauliflower flavor for sure - I mean, it is cauliflower, after all. So if you absolutely can’t stand cauliflower, then this recipe isn’t for you. But to me, who doesn’t really ever get to eat real pizza (I went gluten free yearssss ago) this tastes like a dream and a wonderful veggie-filled replacement.

Okay, so about the crust.

You need to buy a few frozen bags of cauliflower rice (I buy three bags from Trader Joe’s). Then you will need a cheese cloth, nut milk bag or even some paper towels to squeeeeeeezzeee the heck out of the cauliflower to remove all the liquid. Then you’re going to add in just a few other simple ingredients to make a “dough.” After it turns into a dough ball - you’re going to roll it between two pieces of parchment paper with a rolling pin so it gets nice and flat. Then mold it to the shape of your pan or pizza stone and bake! I actually just used a regular sheet pan because I don’t have a pizza stone and it works wonderfully that way too.

Here’s how you make it!

Serves: 5 people
Time: 15-20 minutes to make/bake crust and another 15 to bake your pizza toppings

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 (12 oz) bags of frozen riced cauliflower

  • 3 tsp dried or fresh oregano

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 egg (beaten)

  • 1/2 cup flax

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 cup gluten free flour

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil

  • pinch of sea salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper (unless you’re using a pizza stone) and set oven to 400 degrees.

  2. You can either leave the frozen bags of cauliflower out to defrost or you can run them under hot water real quick to make sure they’re defrosted.

  3. Add all the cauliflower rice (all three bags) to a cheese cloth or nut milk bag (you can also use paper towels) and squeeze out every bit of liquid inside. Really squeeze it good to make sure you’ve removed all the moisture.

  4. In a large mixing bowl, add the egg, oil and cauliflower.

  5. In a separate bowl, add the flax, oregano, gluten free flour, baking soda, onion powder and salt and combine well.

  6. Then pour your wet ingredients into the dry and mix and kneed thoroughly with your hands until you have a nicely formed ball. If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour to your hands.

  7. Then place the “dough ball” in between two pieces of parchment paper and flatten it using a rolling pin.

  8. Shape the dough however you want it or to the shape of your pan. I used a baking sheet and formed it to the shape of my pan.

  9. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges begin to slighlty brown.

  10. Remove from the oven and add whatever toppings you like. We used pizza sauce, mozzerella cheese, pepperoni and garden basil.

  11. Bake for another 15 minutes and serve!

ENJOY!
